About Me
Hi! Thank you for visiting my website and for your interest in my work! I’m Hilary, a landscape oil painter based just outside Washington, DC, in Takoma Park. I’ve always been a deeply visual person, and my work is inspired by the various cities and landscapes where I’ve lived - a childhood in California, then many years in New York City, Pittsburgh, and more recently DC. I came to fine art through graphic design and illustration, but during the pandemic made the switch to painting full time and haven’t looked back. I’m a member of multiple art associations, a grant awardee, and award recipient. You can find me at juried art fairs across the East Coast, and I’m also represented by Foundry Gallery and PxP Contemporary.
I find inspiration everywhere, in the everyday urban world around me. I seek out small moments of beauty others might overlook and try to express those moments through my work. I like to look up at the stars or a beautiful sunset and feel small in the best sense of the word, like a small part of something larger and more mysterious than we can understand. I hope you enjoy my work, and that it brings you some of that sense of that wonder and joy.
