Artist Statement

My artistic process begins in daily life as I’m walking or driving around the city. I take snapshots constantly with my phone of anything beautiful that catches my eye, from reflections on street signs, to bright lights, to partially obstructed glimpses of sky. Later, in the studio, I work to capture in paint the fleeting moments that stopped me in my tracks. I’m interested in what connects us to nature in an urban setting, glitches in the translation of these images through technology, and what it means to be a human in our modern era.

My process is marked by repeated erasure and recreation, rubbing out and then repainting, until I achieve something that is loose and spontaneous but also true.
